GameCity 2010


James Hannigan in concert and conversation (with special guest, Nutmeg the Owl) - Thursday October 28th, 2010, 7.30pm at St. Mary's Church, High Pavement, Nottingham.


Hosted by John Broomhall, the event featured performances from the The Pinewood Singers conducted by Allan Wilson (Sleepy Hollow, Fable), with choral renditions of James's new theme for EA's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 video game, a special version of the Evil Genius theme for guitar played by Andy Baker, music from Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight and others.

Original music from Warner Bros' The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest was also performed by the Pinewood Singers and special guest violinist, Julian Leaper, and soprano Tamara Zivadinovic performed her unique and powerful interpretation of 'Soviet March' for the first time in public.

In between performances, a conversation was held on the subject of making music for games and how this differs from music for linear media, looking at the creative process from composition through to recording - complete with live demonstrations of interactive music at work.
